Ruby Woo Lipstick by M.A.C

I've had so many of you girls asking me what lipstick I'm wearing in my latest video. Well as the title would suggest it's Ruby Woo by M.A.C.

You got me thinking about how much I really feckin love this lippy! It was my first ever M.A.C lipstick purchased in November 2011. I only have a very small collection of their lipsticks and Ruby Woo is the one I wear the most for sure. I have a great relationship with this lipstick. It gives me a certain confidence no other beauty product has given me before.

When I was in school I had a teacher who wore a red two piece suit every now and again. She later told our class that the red two piece suit gave her a sense of power and confidence. That's how I feel about this lipstick. I wore it to the blog awards last year and on many nights out. It's so matte that I don't have to worry about it sliding off and with the Artdeco Magic Fix it lasts all night.

What's your favourite lipstick and does wearing it make you feel different or am I just mad?!

The Perfect Red Lips for the Party Season featuring Barry M and Rimmel London

Hmmm.. What am I missing?! Oh yes, the perfect red lipstick for the upcoming party season!

In fact I have a pretty spectacular Lip liner and lipstick to tell you about. Barry M 163 Little Vixen €8 and Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip liner in 024 Red Diva €5.49

I lined my lips with Red Diva, a full colour lip liner definer which is soft textured and the fine tip offers precise definition. I didn't find this liner to be drying, it went on so smoothly. I made sure not to twist it up too much to avoid causing the liner to snap. I just twisted up a little at a time and it worked perfectly. This liner made the perfect base to the lipstick I chose to apply next. They matched each other perfectly.

Next I applied Little Vixen by Barry M. I bought this lipstick as part of Boots 3 for 2 offer. I also bought two Barry M polishes, I shall report back on them soon! I love this classic red lipstick because it's not too bright and it's not too dark, it's just right. Little Vixen is made up of Barry M newest ultra moisturising lip paint formula. All hail cocoa butter! It means no more dry looking lips but it does also mean you need a very good lip liner to keep it in place. It's suits my complexion perfectly and I look forward to wearing it over the Christmas party season and well into the new year.

I applied both of these products at lunch time and after dinner, a trip to the cinema were obligatory popcorn was had and a quick stop into my local on the way home to see a band play I noticed then that the lipstick had held up for a good 10 hours!!! You can't get much better than that girls!

To prolong your lipstick for even longer check out my post on Lipstick sealers.

Love,
Sarah

Affordable dupes for the Sigma Brush Cleaning Glove

You may be wondering why I'm blogging about an oven glove...well Sigma brought out their Sigma spa brush cleaning glove nearly a year ago and I remember first hearing about it and instantly wanting it because I love my Bunny Brush collection and my Sigma Dry'n Shape. It would only be natural for me to complete my collection with the Brush cleaning glove. However, when I went onto their website I discovered it costs $40 (now $35)  and thought hell no! I couldn't justify spending that much money especially when there is a cheaper alternative available.

**BOOM** Let me introduce you to the silicone oven glove from Tesco. It's made from the same material and has ridges suitable for cleaning your larger face brushes as well as your smaller eye brushes and only cost me half the price of the sigma version at just €13.50.

I start by placing the bristle friendly shampoo by Elave to the area with large ridges to clean my BCC Buffer Brush
Then all I had to do was apply the brush to the glove and move it around in circular motions. The ridges do most of the work. I rinse the brush under running water and then apply it to the glove again to make sure all product is removed.
Once the brush is clean you can use the section in between the thumb of the glove to shape your brush, just a gentle squeeze will remove excess water and shape your large face brushes.
Smaller ridges for your eye brushes.

Both sides of the Tesco glove of awesomeness are textured JUST like the Sigma brush cleaning glove so you can use one side for cleaning and the other for rinsing. The inside has a fabric covering which makes it comfortable to use. It's easy to clean and will no doubt last me a very long time if not forever!

I'm really glad I purchased this glove, it is the perfect addition to my brush family. It has cut the time spent cleaning my brushes in half and my hands love me all the more for it.

If €13.50 is still too much of a stretch for you there is also another alternative on ebay for £2.89. If you're into D.I.Y projects check out this tutorial on Youtube by Secretlifeofabionerd and see how you can make your own brush cleaner using a hot glue gun and a clip board. Overall the method of using any type of silicone glove seems to work really well no matter what the cost. I'm sure the Sigma Brush cleaner is an absolute dream to use. Apart from the price I have only heard of one other complaint and that is the glove being far too big for some little hands. My man hand and I are happy enough to stick with our Tesco oven glove!!

Let me know what you think below.

Sarah

Get Away Gorgeous with Benefit Cosmetics - Yes Please!!

Hi lovelies, I hope this post finds you all well.

Last week I was invited to The Morgan hotel in Dublin by Benefit Cosmetics and I wanted to share my experience with you. I had never been to The Morgan before my visit but I had heard about the great night life with resident house DJs, live sax and bongo players. Something different aye girls!

Upon entering the hotel I was impressed immediately with a warm welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. I was then escorted up to the penthouse suite (oh la la) where I had to remind myself to close my jaw, it was so lavish. The above photo was taken on the rooftop balcony, I didn't want to leave girls. I can picture myself up there all night with friends, sipping on cocktails and taking in the Dublin night sky.

Benefit have teamed up with The Morgan hotel and created what can only be described as a must do night out. You would be a fool (yes I said it) not to take advantage of the "Get away gorgeous" experience. It costs €100 per person and includes your overnight stay, a Benefit masterclass, cocktails, tapas food, entertainment in the hotel on the night and a decadent buffet breakfast in the morning.
Brow me up before you go-go, Mark Rogers making my brows more acceptable for the public eye! Photo taken by Marian, thank you lovely.

What more could you ask for girls. I think this is a fantastic experience. You'll get to learn lots of tips and tricks from the Benebabe team and get to play with the latest products from Benefit. After experiencing the tapas myself I can tell you that you won't be disappointed. The cocktails in the hotel bar are also very reasonable with speciality cocktails at €7. Oh and if you thought it couldn't get any better, each girl will also receive and exclusive benefit treat to take home.

Would you book the "Get Away Gorgeous" experience?

There you go, I can say no more...who wants to book with me?! If you are interested you can contact reservations by email reservations@themorgan.com or call 01 643 7000 .

Love,
Sarah

Urban Decay - Vice Palette - Guest Post by Sarah Lowry

Hi there! My name is Sarah (also answers to “Mike” to avoid confusion when there are a few Sarah's around!) & when Sarah asked me to do a guest post on her blog I jumped at the chance as I am trying to get some blogging practise in so I can start up my own blog – something I have wanted to do for ages – and as Sarah’s blog is just awesome what better place to throw out a post & get feedback?! So thanks so much to Sarah no.1 as I like to call her, it’s a brilliant chance for me, you’re a wee gem m’lady!

So, for my guest post I am going to be reviewing the Urban Decay palette that was out for Holiday 2012 season – the VICE PALETTE!!

Just look at this beauty – even the packaging is so swish & swanky (I am a sucker for nice packaging!) Also, what I love about it is that it is a sturdy, hard cased palette, so flimsy cardboard in sight, which makes it travel proof, added bonus! PLUS, the mirror is the full size of the palette, which is awesome as pokey wee mirrors are just more hassle than they are worth. Cherry on top of an insanely tasty cake? Urban Decay kindly include one of their Good Karma brushes!

I love this as them flimsy sponge applicators in palettes are actually AWFUL at applying shadow. But the brush here is actually pretty decent quality! Now, I would be sticking to my trusty Sigma brush but for travelling its handy to not have to pack my Mrs Bunny’s!

Then, what we all want to see really right – the GOODS!! Just look inside this baby!! All new colours, not one shadow is a copy or repromote from another palette. I love this, as I am a HUGE Urban Decay junkie, with more UD palettes than you can shake a stick at but UD has this habit of repeating the old & having very little new till NOW! So yay for new-ness!!

So the shadows… the first thing that hit me was the quality of them, so creamy & butter smooth, super pigmented and no chalky effect (no one likes looking like a blackboard after all!). Urban Decay managed to have a good mix of colours in this palette, and different finishes too –from the matte Chaos (the AWESOME cobalt blue!) to the shimmery shades we know & love UD for –Penny Lane comes to mind here- that stunning shimmery copper.

Here is a quick break down of the shadows in this wee beauty –

Desperation – a taupe brown with a satin finish
Muse – a deep brown with a sparkley finish
Jagged – black with HUGE chunks of red glitter
Blitz – a metallic gold that has a shimmer finish to it
Penny Lane – a metallic peachy bronze
Junkie – a turquoise shadow with a slight golden shimmer
Chaos – cobalt blue
Occupy – metallic steel grey with multi coloured sparkle
Unhinged – a silver/baby blue
Blackout – matte black, great to use as liner!
Provocateur – a light metallic pink/mauve with pink & white sparkle bits!
Rapture – a dark grey/purple
Vice – a dark matte purple
Noise – shimmery fuchsia with gold sparkle (GIRL POWER!)
Armour – a light metallic grey with small silver glitter
Nevermind – a frosted metallic bronzy brown
Echo Beach – a pale gold with a frosted finish
Anonymous- a matte almost-white shadow – can only describe this shadow as an ivory shade
Freebird – a pale pink shadow, baby pink, with a tiny bit of gold sparkle & a metallic finish
Laced – A matte pink-beige shadow

If I had to find fault with the shadows here in this palette it would have to be that some of glittery ones had some fallout, I am looking at Jagged especially when I say this!

However, since Urban Decay redeveloped their shadows, their glitter shadows have definitely improved in staying power. Also, a really good eyeshadow primer will help this problem dramatically!

Which shadow is my favourite you ask? I am actually adoring Blitz – haven’t seen such a shimmery gold in a long time, it’s the shadow of queens!

So, there you have it! My quick low-down on all things Urban Decay & Vice! Thanks again to my lovely lady, Sarah no.1 for having me on her Adoreabubble blog! (bad pun I know I know!) You, are a LEGEND!

If anyone has any questions or comments please don’t be afraid to give me a shout – tips on blogging are always welcome too!
