Affordable dupes for the Sigma Brush Cleaning Glove

You may be wondering why I'm blogging about an oven glove...well Sigma brought out their Sigma spa brush cleaning glove nearly a year ago and I remember first hearing about it and instantly wanting it because I love my Bunny Brush collection and my Sigma Dry'n Shape. It would only be natural for me to complete my collection with the Brush cleaning glove. However, when I went onto their website I discovered it costs $40 (now $35)  and thought hell no! I couldn't justify spending that much money especially when there is a cheaper alternative available.

**BOOM** Let me introduce you to the silicone oven glove from Tesco. It's made from the same material and has ridges suitable for cleaning your larger face brushes as well as your smaller eye brushes and only cost me half the price of the sigma version at just €13.50.

I start by placing the bristle friendly shampoo by Elave to the area with large ridges to clean my BCC Buffer Brush
Then all I had to do was apply the brush to the glove and move it around in circular motions. The ridges do most of the work. I rinse the brush under running water and then apply it to the glove again to make sure all product is removed.
Once the brush is clean you can use the section in between the thumb of the glove to shape your brush, just a gentle squeeze will remove excess water and shape your large face brushes.
Smaller ridges for your eye brushes.

Both sides of the Tesco glove of awesomeness are textured JUST like the Sigma brush cleaning glove so you can use one side for cleaning and the other for rinsing. The inside has a fabric covering which makes it comfortable to use. It's easy to clean and will no doubt last me a very long time if not forever!

I'm really glad I purchased this glove, it is the perfect addition to my brush family. It has cut the time spent cleaning my brushes in half and my hands love me all the more for it.

If €13.50 is still too much of a stretch for you there is also another alternative on ebay for £2.89. If you're into D.I.Y projects check out this tutorial on Youtube by Secretlifeofabionerd and see how you can make your own brush cleaner using a hot glue gun and a clip board. Overall the method of using any type of silicone glove seems to work really well no matter what the cost. I'm sure the Sigma Brush cleaner is an absolute dream to use. Apart from the price I have only heard of one other complaint and that is the glove being far too big for some little hands. My man hand and I are happy enough to stick with our Tesco oven glove!!

Let me know what you think below.

Love,
Sarah

  8. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the price of Sigma's oven glove. I didn't get it becaue I know my husband would use it and wreck it by leaving it on a hot ring. Like he has done with all my bread boards.
